June 2017 week four fuel prices – petrol goes down

It’s another Wednesday, which means time yet again for a new round of weekly fuel prices. Yet more cheer again for motorists, as prices drop for a fourth week in a row, but only for RON 95 and RON 97 petrol, with no change in the price of diesel from last week.
From tomorrow, June 22, RON 95 petrol will be priced at RM1.91 per litre (down seven sen from RM1.98 per litre last week), while RON 97 petrol is priced at RM2.17 per litre (down seven sen from RM2.24 per litre last week).
As for Euro 2M diesel, the price remains at RM1.88 per litre (which was down six sen from RM1.94 previously) this week, while Euro 5 diesel continues to be pegged at RM1.98 per litre (down six sen from RM2.04 previously). These prices take effect from midnight until June 28, when the next price adjustment will be announced.
This is the 13th weekly fuel pricing update since the system’s implementation on March 30. Compared to March 2017 prices, which was before weekly pricing took effect, RON 95 is down by 39 sen (from RM2.30 per litre), RON 97 by 43 sen (RM2.60 per litre), and diesel down by 32 sen (RM2.20).

Weekly fuel pricing system to remain, says KPDNKK

The domestic trade, co-operatives and consumerism ministry (KPDNKK) minister says there will be no change to the current system of announcing fuel prices on a weekly basis, but a new formula to determine fuel prices – which is aimed at stabilising the national oil industry – was still being studied, Bernama reports.
“There are people who want the announcement to be made from weekly to monthly. No, the system that we have right now will remain,” Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said.
Last Friday, he had said the ministry was set to meet with oil industry players this week to discuss a new formula to determine fuel prices. This was to prevent petrol station operators from suffering losses if fuel prices continued to fall under the current method.

Hamzah said he had met with industry players to discuss the formula to ensure that it would not disadvantage any party, adding that the government was looking at a ‘win-win’ formula for all parties, including consumers, who would stand to be affected if petrol station operators went bankrupt.
“Currently, the average distance of a petrol station from another is about 25 km, so if one shuts down, it will be difficult for consumers who will need to go far to refuel,” he explained. Presently, there are 3,500 petrol stations operating nationwide.
Last month, the Petrol Dealers Association of Malaysia (PDAM) described the weekly price adjustment system as “unhealthy” and the reason why several station closures had occurred since its implementation at the end of March. At the time, the ministry responded by urging station operators to look for other sources of income to complement the sale of fuels, in order to generate a larger profit.

From tomorrow, June 15, RON 95 petrol will be priced at RM1.98 per litre (down seven sen from RM2.05 per litre last week), while RON 97 petrol is priced at RM2.24 per litre (down seven sen from RM2.31 per litre last week).
Meanwhile, Euro 2M diesel will be priced at RM1.88 per litre (down six sen from RM1.94) this week, while Euro 5 diesel will be pegged at RM1.98 per litre (down six sen from RM2.04). These prices take effect from midnight until June 21, when the next price adjustment will be announced.
This is the 12th weekly fuel pricing update since the system’s implementation on March 30. Compared to March 2017 prices, which was before weekly pricing took effect, RON 95 is down by 32 sen (from RM2.30 per litre), RON 97 by 36 sen (RM2.60 per litre), and diesel down by 32 sen (RM2.20).

June 2017 week two fuel prices – petrol, diesel down

Another Wednesday, which means it’s time again for weekly fuel prices. The cheer continues this week for motorists, with petrol and diesel prices continuing to drop like it did last week.
From tomorrow, June 8, RON 95 petrol will be priced at RM2.05 per litre (down five sen from RM2.10 per litre last week), while RON 97 petrol is priced at RM2.31 per litre (down seven sen from RM2.38 per litre last week).
Meanwhile, Euro 2M diesel will be priced at RM1.94 per litre (down eight sen from RM2.02) this week, while Euro 5 diesel will be pegged at RM2.04 per litre (down eight sen from RM2.12). These prices take effect from midnight until June 14, when the next price adjustment will be announced.

This is the 11th weekly fuel pricing update since the system’s implementation on March 30. Compared to March 2017 prices, which was before weekly pricing took effect, RON 95 is down by 25 sen (from RM2.30 per litre), RON 97 by 29 sen (RM2.60 per litre), and diesel down by 26 sen (RM2.20).
